Tubular piles, also known as steel pipe piles or tubular piling, are large-diameter steel pipes used for foundation and retaining applications. They are widely applied in deep foundations, quay walls, cofferdams, and combined wall systems where high bending resistance is required.
Structural Role in Combined Wall Systems
Tubular piles serve as the primary structural elements in combined wall systems, carrying both horizontal loads (from soil and water pressure) and vertical loads (from foundations). Intermediary Z-type sheet piles transfer lateral forces to the tubular piles, forming an integrated load-bearing system.
Material & Manufacturing Range
Tubular piles are produced from a wide range of materials, including standard carbon steel and high-strength steel grades. They can be manufactured in various diameters, thicknesses, and lengths to meet project-specific design requirements.
- Steel grades: X70 / S460 / A690 etc.
- Thickness range: up to 80mm (LSAW), 26mm (SSAW)
- Diameter: up to 21m
- Length: up to 100m
Key Advantages
✔ No limitation on tubular pile dimensions (up to 100m length / 21m diameter)
✔ Wide steel grade availability (X70 / S460 / A690 etc.)
✔ Strong production capacity (SSAW & LSAW lines)
✔ Full project supply including sheet piles and accessories
✔ Rich industry experience with global contractors and engineers
Manufacturing Technologies
1. SSAW Pipe Piles
Spiral Submerged Arc Welded (SSAW) pipes are manufactured from steel coils, welded internally and externally. They are widely used in tubular combined walls due to their ability to achieve long lengths and large diameters without additional welding.
- Suitable for pipe pile walls and combined systems
- Equipped with interlocks or clutches
- Pipe shoes often welded for driving
2.LSAW Pipe Piles
Longitudinal Submerged Arc Welded (LSAW) pipes are produced from steel plates. They offer thicker walls and high structural strength, typically used for heavy-duty applications.
- Max length: ~16m (without splicing)
- Thickness up to 100mm
- Used for pipelines, oil & gas, and foundation piles
2.Seamless Pipe Piles
Seamless pipes are produced by piercing solid billets, resulting in high pressure resistance and superior structural integrity.
- Suitable for high-pressure applications
- Limited in diameter and thickness
- Used in oil & gas, drilling, and deep foundations
3.ERW Pipe Piles
Electric Resistance Welded (ERW) pipes are formed from steel strips and welded longitudinally.
- Diameter typically ≤600mm
- Thickness ≤16mm
- Cost-effective solution for light to medium applications
